How To Taste Wine
See: Look at the colour (depth and shade), white wines gain colour as they age whereas red wines lose it and start to take on brown tones.
Swirl: This releases the aromas and allows you to see how your wine behaves on the glass, does it cling or is it a lighter consistency that just falls away?
Smell: Break your sniffing session down into assessing fruit, herb and mineral scents, see what you pick up and make notes
Sip: Consider body, acidity, fruitiness and sweetness separately and do move the wine around your mouth to extract all the flavour
Swallow: You could spit at this stage but we advise you swallow! Note the finish on the wine, how it leaves your mouth feeling.
